When a pilot begins skywriting apocalyptic messages over their mountain city—"FIRE COMES," "THE GROUND WILL SHAKE," and finally a thirty-three day countdown—four teenage friends watch their final summer together unravel beneath the ominous sky. After the countdown ends in anticlimax, the city laughs at the warnings. Then, one week later, the earthquake comes.
